As the days get longer and the sun gets hotter, it’s important to keep your furry friends cool and refreshed!
This week, we wanted to share some easy and yummy dog treats that your pets will love!
These two recipes are really easy to make and don’t take much time.
The treats we made only included 5 ingredients that you can probably find in your fridge! We used bananas, watermelon, carrots, peanut butter and yogurt. You can mix and match different fruits/vegetables to make these – as long as you make sure they are dog safe!
Remember, these are treats and are not made to be consumed in large quantities at a time.
We found some cute ice molds at Walmart for around $1 that worked perfectly to make these treats!
You can use a silicone mold, ice cube tray or any other mold that you can stick in the freezer…just be mindful of the size so your dog doesn’t choke on them!
Let’s get started!
First, we made a blended banana and peanut butter treat!
Ingredients:
- Peanut Butter (that does NOT contain Xylitol)
- 1 Banana
- Plain Non-Fat Yogurt
Luckily, dog’s don’t care too much about taste, so these treats are not measured into exact proportions. As long as they blend well together and don’t contain a crazy amount of one ingredient over the others…you should be good!
HOW WE MADE THEM
We broke up a banana into small chunks (to blend quicker), added three large spoonful’s of yogurt and two spoonful’s of peanut butter. We blended these all together until it looked like a smoothie.
Then, pour them into your molds and stuck in the freezer until frozen (about 3 hours).
THAT’S IT!
Next we made a blended watermelon and carrot purée!
This one is even easier!
Ingredients:
- 3 carrots
- 3 large pieces of watermelon or about 2 cups
For this recipe, we peeled the carrots and sliced them into small chunks…we threw them in the blended and finely chopped them.
Next, we cut up our watermelon and took three large pieces and stuck them into the blended. We blended again until it looked like a smoothie!
Finally, pour into the molds and freeze (about 4 hours)!
& YOU’RE DONE!
How easy are those!? The girls loved them and they took no time to make. They’re also full of vitamins and are a healthy snack!
Perfect treats to have in the freezer on those hot summer days!
As you can see, the girls couldn’t wait to dive in and try them…Addie couldn’t stop drooling and went straight for the peanut butter ones – she has a good nose!
We’d love to hear if you tried our treats, or have any other special recipes you’d like to share!
Bone Appétit!
