Okay, it’s now been a full week that I’ve been working in the office and wow, what a week it’s been.
I’d like to note that the series of these unfortunate events all happened in one day. Actually, the day after I told you they were missing their mom…
I’ve decided to leave Ivy out of her crate lately, and make the room puppy proof so she can stretch her legs at night and during the day instead of being confined.
But I forgot how spiteful she is…
I heard some pitter pattering up and down the stairs at about 5:00 AM and wondered what she was doing. Her water is up there so I figured she might just be needed a drink.
When it was time to get up and I opened my bedroom door, my feet were instantly wet. She had peed right where I take my first steps out of the room. I figured she was a poor thing and maybe just couldn’t hold it.
As I walked up the stairs, I found another wet spot at the top and as I continued to the door to let her out, a third.
At that point, I knew she didn’t have to go to the bathroom that bad, but was still mad that I haven’t had the time to pay as much attention to her as I normally would.
We continued with our morning and I washed all the floors before going to work. It was time for me to leave and her to relax with Miss Addie.
We’ve made sure that someone has been home at lunch time everyday to let them out and give them a snack. I know if she’s peed three times this morning already, she wasn’t holding back if she had to go again…
Someone came home at lunch to feed and let them out, give them a few minutes to run around and then put them back in the living room to eat their bones until the work day was over.
This time, it was Addie’s turn to show how she felt about us both being gone again.
Addie, however, took things to the next level.
She decided to “do her business” in the house. And when I say in the house, it was all over the house. She started by pooping on the couch and letting the rest trail behind her and she made her way around the living room. Now, mind you, this wasn’t even the couch that she lays on…like it was an accident and slipped out. It was the spare couch that she never lays on.
I’d have to imagine Ivy got her spitefulness from her mom. Who was instantly guilty when asked “did you do that!?”
Now I wish I could say that was the worst of it…but, there’s more…
Ivy decided she was also going to get sick- not once but twice.
The first time she decided to do it in her crate and hide the evidence by burying it with her blankets.
The second time, well, there was no holding back…the next bed was the best place to loose her lunch.
Her guilt set in too…
Needless to say it was a long day for all of us…
Luckily, the weekend was there before we knew it and they got the quality time they were looking for. I remember wanting a dog, but I don’t remember signing up for this stuff…
Today’s Lesson: you have to take the good with the bad. Sometimes it’s going to be sunshine and rainbows…but, you can’t get a rainbow without a little rain.
