This week we wanted to take a step back and do a re-introduction of whose who.
We have lots of new readers and wanted to make sure everyone knew our background and how we’ve come to where we are today.
So here’s our story…
We met Miss Addie in 2018. She was the cutest little girl and we were excited to take her home and add her to our family.
Her full name is actually Ariadne, but Addie for short. Ariadne was a princess in Greek mythology, who was known for navigating her way through labyrinths, and safely returning home. We knew that living on the water and being boaters, our little lab would always bring us back to port safely.
As a puppy, Addie spent almost everyday at “doggy daycare” visiting her Aunt Stella. They became the best of friends and to this day are inseparable. Stella is a very low key girl, and brings some manners and tranquility into our lives.
When we picked Addie out, we were hoping for a dog who enjoyed the water, as we spend a lot of time on it in the summer. We brought her to the beach and her love for swimming began.
She learned how to swim on her own within the first week of being home. We’d throw her a tennis ball and she would run into the water to fetch it for us. She loved it so much, she would swim for hours.
She was the cutest, spunkiest puppy there was and I knew I wanted another one, just like her.
In March of last year, Addie had 11 puppies – 6 girls and 5 boys. I was excited to finally have puppy just like her…and for her to have a companion to play with everyday. Addie has brought us so much laughter and love in the short two years we’ve had her, that adding another one of her was a no brainer. This is how we got Ivy.
Ivy was a sweet, little chocolate lab, who loved to cuddle when the family picked her out. She was low-key, which we thought would be a good balance against Addie’s energy. They could play together, but we wouldn’t have two super high energy dogs.
We were wrong.
Since then, Ivy has discovered her alter-ego, who we like to call “Izzy”.
Izzy is a devil. She tears things up, barks and has issues with listening to directions. When Izzy is around, all hell breaks loose…she’s a work in progress.
When Ivy is back in the picture, we have our cute, cuddly little puppy who has no understanding of personal space. She will sit on your head and steal your shoes, but everything she does revolves around her humans. She has the sweetest demeanor and you can tell she looks up to Addie in so many ways.
Together, Addie and Ivy are the sweetest and smartest little girls and really make our house a home.
We created this blog to tell you all about their adventures and some of the lessons they’ve taught us along the way. Whether we’re going on a hike or swimming in the lake, they always seem to do things that makes us reflect on our time spent together and relate it everyday situations.
They may be a handful sometimes, but I’d rather have my hands full than empty.
