Do you ever want to check in to see what your pup is doing while you’re not home? Ever just think of them and wish you could throw them a treat?

Well now you can with the Furbo Dog Camera!

We wanted to share with you what we think about this cool camera, and the pros and cons of owning one!

The Furbo Dog Camera allows you to check in on your pets while you’re away…you can talk to them, toss them treats and even take pictures/videos of them. The Furbo offers a livestream view of whatever room it is in, and 2-way audio so not only can you hear them, but they can hear you! It also has a modern design and looks great in any room…and is Apple (iOS) and Android compatible, so anyone can use it!

Sounds cool, right? But let’s get into the nitty gritty a bit more…starting with the Pros.

The Pros

Sending your furry friend a treat from anywhere is definitely the biggest pro in my opinion. Whenever I think of my girls and wish I could send them some love…I can! A quick press of the cookie button and treats are being sent their way!

Another cool feature is that the Furbo Dog Camera plays a light “ding” when you want to toss a treat. My girls think it’s a doorbell ringing (and go nuts!), but luckily it can be easily changed! The camera lets you customize the noise and even record your own voice. My camera says “treat!” when it tosses my girls a snack, so they know it’s me sending it to them!

I bet your wondering…what about the camera though? The camera in itself is great quality! It offers 1080p and a wide angle view so you can see exactly what your pup is up to. It even works day and night and adjusts to different light settings.

Now lets talk about the microphone –  as mentioned before, the Furbo Dog Camera is equipped with a 2-way microphone, so not only can they hear me, but I can hear them. I often check on Ivy during the day, since I haven’t been making her stay in her crate. I leave lots of toys out but still don’t trust 100% that she wont find trouble…this ensures me that when I check on her, I can yell at her if I have to…(luckily I’ve only caught Izzy in action once…).

A final (and really cool) feature is the Furbo Dog Nanny subscription that they offer. The subscription is only $0.99 for three months and offers smart features to alert you if your pet is up to no good. Without the subscription, you can still toss treats and get alerts when your dog barks…however, with the subscription you also get alerts if your dog is getting active, if a person enters the room and if your dog is standing in front of the camera waiting for a treat (a “selfie” they call it). It definitely offers peace of mind if you’re away from your pets often and especially if they’re in the stages where they’re maturing and learning to be “ok” on their own.

Although we love sending our girls treats, there are some Cons we’ve noticed that we think our readers should be aware of.

The Cons

We have noticed the camera often lags and does not throw the treats every time we push for it to.

As mentioned, I’ve customized it so it says “treat” when it launches a treat. However, often times I hear the verbal cue, but the treat does not dispense. I can be in the same room and click it several times, and don’t always get the response I’m expecting.

Another thing we’ve noticed is sometimes the treats get clogged. They don’t always launch fully out of the hole and it creates a back up. This is different than the treat not launching at all, as I can hear the click of it attempting to. In this case, the device says “treat” and clicks to launch, but they become clogged in the dispenser. Note that we are using their recommended treats as well, so the size is not an issue.

A final issue we’ve noticed is that the camera often freezes and states we have a bad connection, whether we are on WiFi or Cellular, and regardless if we are either 10 feet or 10 miles away. It pops up with a notification, and we must close the app in order to access the camera again.  We also are not always notified of activity, barking or people. We are still in the trial period of the Fubo Dog Nanny, but because we are not consistently getting notified, we do not plan to subscribe. We think these are as simple as software glitches, but nonetheless, they prevent us from being able to use the camera and treat launcher all together and know exactly what is going on while we’re away.

Overall, we do think this is an awesome camera and a fun accessory to have in the room. Even when the girls are being too clingy I can toss a treat to get their mind involved in something other than my attention. With the minor issues we’ve seen, we would still recommend buying a Furbo Dog Camera for peace of mind, especially with a new puppy!
