We’re back after a quick break and boy do we have a lot to share with you!

We took a little vacation this past week, without the girls for once…and enjoyed some time offline.

The girls went to my sister’s houses and had a little vacation of their own!

I’m not sure who had a better trip…us, or them!

To start, I’m going to take you back to a few days before our departure…

The girls must’ve sensed that something was going on…they weren’t acting themselves…

They were such good girls the week before, it was hard to think they’d start misbehaving. Ivy was out of her crate while I was at work and spending her days lounging on the couch with Miss Addie.

But good old Ivy surprises me every time…(I should really know better by now).

I checked the dog camera during the day, and to my surprise, my house was destroyed.

Izzy was ready to play and ate everything in her sight – she was like the Tasmanian Devil and anything that came in her path, she ruined…

She ate all her toys, all of the decorations on my TV stand and even my couch. I had the cushion covers off to wash them, and she must’ve thought it was a giant toy (maybe that’s not her fault?)…

This wasn’t an isolated incident either, she did it two days in a row. I really shouldn’t have given her the benefit of the doubt when it came to the couch cushions.

It was hard to watch…and if you notice, both times Addie wants nothing to do with the trouble Ivy is causing…

Here’s a close up…

But here’s the worst part…all I could do to distract her from ruining more was to toss her treats. It would distract her for a few minutes, and then she would become a hellion again. Luckily she doesn’t correlate the treats with her behavior, and thinks they’re are random pieces of love from mom…(I hope at least).

I think she thought that her rebellious behavior would keep us home…but it didn’t…

They were going on vacation too!

Ivy stayed with her Auntie Stella and newest cousin Lillie, while Addie stayed with her older cousin Gracie. Addie doesn’t do so well anymore with small dogs, so until cousin Lillie is a little bigger… she’s too small to play with.

From the looks of it, you can tell they all had a great time! Ivy and Lillie couldn’t get enough of each other, and Stella was excited for all the couch cuddles. Addie and Gracie went on hikes together, and although they had a disagreement on whose tennis ball was whose, they still had fun spending the week together.

This was Ivy, Stella and Lillie’s day-to-day:

Eat
Play
Cuddle
Play
Eat
Play
Play
Play
Eat
Cuddle
Repeat

Addie and Gracie’s day-to-day was a little more relaxed.

I think Addie is still trying to catch up on all the sleep she’s lost from Ivy the past 11 months…

This is what they did:

Eat
Go for a hike
Lounge on the couch
Cuddle
Cuddle
Eat
Cuddle
Play
Eat
Cuddle
Repeat

They had full days of doing everything they loved. I wasn’t sure if they’d be ready to see each other again, after the exciting week they’d had.

But it was time to reunite them…

When we picked Addie up, you could tell she missed us. She jumped and licked. Her tail wagged so hard that it was like a stick hitting your legs. She rested her head against my arm the whole ride home and licked me every time I moved my hand closer to her (not her normal car ride behavior).

Next, it was time to pick up Ivy and Stella.

Addie waited in the car while we went in to get them…but you could tell she knew her baby was there. When we pulled in, Ivy started barking through the fence…and you could hear Addie start to cry and whimper through the car.

We left her in there while we went to get the girls and all their stuff, but took Addie out of the car when it was time for her to see Ivy again.

They were the happiest I’ve ever seen them.

To be honest, I didn’t know a dog could wag the way these two did.

Ivy hurled her body into the air, jumping on Addie with excitement. You could see the smile on their faces, like they genuinely missed each other.

Auntie Stella did her normal thing…she kept the situation cool and relaxed.

We were finally home…

…and since arriving, the girls have not stopped cuddling with each other.

They’re back to being inseparable and Ivy is back in her crate until she stops destroying things…

Today’s Lesson: everyone needs a little break to refresh and recharge. Personal time is good for your mental health and theirs! It seems that being away from one another, has only made them love each other more.
