For this week’s adventure, Ivy went to the vet to get spayed…and I really thought it would calm her down…
We arrived first thing in the morning and she was supposed to spend the full day there. Before leaving, they wanted to make sure she was feeling okay and didn’t have any reactions to the anesthetics.
So I dropped her off and headed back to see Miss Addie.
Once I got home, it was still early so I decided to take Addie for a walk. I figured she’s been missing the alone time…
We went for our walk and everything was so easy…She was great on her leash [shockingly] and wasn’t chasing those squirrels who are always laughing at her. She listened to everything I said – it was so quiet and peaceful…
Once we got home, she hopped up to her spot on the couch and cuddled right next to me. Every time I got up and went to a new room, she followed and laid by my feet. She really is the most loyal girl I know.
You could tell she enjoyed her alone time, and was catching up on all of the sleep she’s missed the past six months because of Ivy.
We spent the nicest day together, and reminisced of what our life was like when the house was chaos and Ivy free…
The floors had no scratches, the windows had less slobber, and I didn’t have something constantly biting and barking at me for attention.
But we had to go back and pick up Ivy…
When we picked her up, Addie came for the ride…and she was more upset than Ivy was.
When Addie saw Ivy in her cone, she couldn’t stop crying. Her eyes were about to bulge out of her head, and she was so upset to see her baby in the tired, sore condition that she was. You could see the pure love that she has for her little girl…
We are now 3 days post surgery, and she is even more nuts than before…
If you thought Izzy was bad, imagine Izzy on steroids. I didn’t know a dog could have as much energy as she does and I really thought fixing her would calm her down…
Poor Addie tries to play with her, but she’s always getting bit in the face or neck by her bully of a daughter. When Addie is sick of playing, she tries to hide under my feet, away from Little Iz. She thinks if she hides well enough, she won’t be bothered (but she’s wrong…). I’m sure she misses those few hours we had to ourselves also…
Although we enjoyed the peace and quiet, it’s not the same without my Little Ivy. She does a really good job at causing trouble, but an even better job of being cute.
I’m sure this is something we’ll overcome, but for the time being…we’ll have to adjust.
Today’s Lesson: adapt to change. Ivy brings a lot of crazy into our lives, but this house isn’t a home without her. She may add some stress to my life, but she adds even more laughs and love. She’s a work in progress, but we’ll keep adapting to whatever she brings our way.

Lilly was the same way, crazier than ever. She has calmed down a tiny bit but they are still puppies so I think it will take time, lol.
I thought it would be a little quicker of a calm-down, guess I was wrong!
