You all know Addie at this point…and you know she’s tough and she loves an adventure. But if she ever got hurt on a trail or during a hike, I’m not sure how we’d be able to help her. Especially while trying to keep Ivy in line…
We found this cool company that makes Emergency Dog-Carrying Harnesses, that we thought would be convenient to have in case one of the girls ever got hurt. Their reason for creating the harness is inspiring and really shows you that you’re dealing with a company who loves their dogs! After reading about their story, we knew we had to reach out to them!
During a hike, the founder’s dog cut his leg and was miles from the beginning of the trail. He bandaged him up with his first aid kit, but knew he shouldn’t be walking. He emptied his backpack’s contents amongst his friends and stuck his dog in his backpack. This was the inspiration behind the Airlift (you can read the full story here).
They wanted to ensure dog parents have peace of mind while hiking, traveling and enjoying time with their fur family. In any situation, it’s important to have some sort of plan in case things go wrong.
This is why you need the Airlift.
We were so excited to try this harness out! The material it’s made from is super strong and weather resilient. It’s lightweight and very compact. They were kind enough to send us shoulder straps as well, which pair perfectly with the Airlift.
We weren’t sure how simple it would be to use. Addie is high energy, and I didn’t see sticking her in a sling and throwing her on my back being easy.
But it was!
The directions are printed right on the back and very simple to follow. We opened it up, slid the straps on and stuck Addie’s four paws in.
I was unsure about what size to get her, but the Fido Pro representatives were so helpful and pointed me in the right direction. We figured it would be ok to be a little bigger than to fit her tightly. Addie is wearing a size X-Large, and the size is based on her length/weight. She’s a skinny girl, but she’s long.
Once she was in, she never tried to escape…she just stood there ready for us to make our next move.
It was time for liftoff.
Denis [Addie & Ivy’s Dog Dad] squatted down and put her on his back like he would a backpack. As he stood up, Addie had a little wiggle – because we missed sticking her foot in one hole. Once it was in, she just sat there. She was on his back snugly, and wasn’t going anywhere.
This Airlift is incredible. He was able to pick her right up and carry her effortlessly. She didn’t squirm, she didn’t budge…she was comfortable and content.
Although the Airlift is lightweight, you can tell the material is strong and can hold some weight to it. Addie is only 65 pounds, but the Airlift can carry up to more than double that! The straps are in the perfect place, making the sling comfortable for both the carrier and the one being carried!
Denis was able to carry Addie all the way down the beach, and we know we could’ve carried her all the way home if we had to.
We will be taking this sling everywhere with us from now on. It’s so lightweight and takes up virtually no room. It’s the perfect size and gives us peace of mind during our may adventures.
If you go on any adventure – from swimming at the lake to hiking in the mountains, you NEED to get the Airlift by Fido Pro.
You never know when you’ll be in a situation that you need an emergency harness, and you don’t want to be in a situation where you wish you had one!
Overall Puppy Rating: 5 out of 5 Paws
Thank you to Fido Pro for sharing this awesome Airlift with us!
Note: No dogs were hurt in the making of this post 🙂 However, if we were ever in a situation where Addie or Ivy were accidentally hurt, we know we have the best safety harness there is to bring them home safely!
