We decided to keep the puppy we called Rosie – and her new name is Ivy. We didn’t want to name any of them Ivy, and sway our opinion of who we were going to keep.

The meaning of her name is simple. I was in my favorite place in Maine, eating my favorite meal at a restaurant where they had their two dogs roaming freely. Their names were Tucker and Ivy. The name stuck in my mind and I knew it would sound cute when said with her mom.

Addie and Ivy, has a ring to it…doesn’t it?

Their relationship is adorable and you can tell their bond is strong. They do a lot of playing and Addie is teaching Ivy all about her favorite toys. She’s only 8 weeks and already learning how to swim and fetch tennis balls from the pond.

I’m really hoping Ivy gets some of Auntie Stella’s traits, as having two Addie’s might be a handful.

Rosie was a good girl when she was with her other siblings. She was cute, but spunky and always let me flip her over to rub her belly. The day we decided she was the one, her personality flipped a little.

She began to bark, and it was a loud bark…almost as if she was calling us –  “Hey! I’m yours now…I don’t need to be in the pen with these pups!”. Unfortunately for us, it was consistent. We’d leave, she’s bark…even Addie wanted no part of it.

Lucky for us, as she became Ivy her personality began to shift again. She was turning into a sweet girl who just wanted love. She was cuddly and loved to nap, she was the complete opposite of her mother.

For now…

Nevertheless, Addie and Ivy were set to do great things together and have unforgettable adventures. I’m hoping she stays this lovable little girl.

Today’s Lesson: don’t judge a book by its cover. People change over time and who you meet now might grow into a completely different person.
