It’s been an exciting week as we saw the vet and are getting everything in order for our new families to meet us!

Not only did she say how strong and healthy they are, but was amazed at how awesome Addie has taken care of now – 22 puppies total!

I know how anxious all of the families are – it wasn’t too long ago I felt the same way.

I remember when it was time to take Miss Addie home – I’d count the number of sleeps I had left before I could see her. It was beyond exciting and I had so many fun things planned for our future together. This is the day we picked her out…it feels like yesterday.

We were going to learn to swim and go on hikes…she was going to be taken everywhere she was possibly allowed and attend all the family events she could.

But when I picked out Addie, it was different…

I had called the breeder and was able to meet a litter of puppies, who I thought my little Addie would be apart of. They were able to go home in 7 weeks and she was the last one they had from that litter. I happened to see another litter at the same place…this one had 3 girls left and were able to go home in only 4 weeks.

That was it.

I put a deposit down, and about 2 weeks later I was able to pick her out. Once I picked her out, I anxiously waited for a call to say when I could come pick her up and take her home.

I never saw any pictures…I wasn’t even really able to get ahold of them if I had any questions. These puppies were their business.

When we decided it was time to breed Addie, I wanted it to be different.

This is why we put so much work into our puppies.

I can’t imagine giving an experience like that.

In an age of technology and instant communication…it’s so simple and so meaningful to show everyone updates here and there.

The days do fly by…but showing our future fur families, past fur families and all of our other dog lovers updates is important.

Not only are they part of our family, but we want others to watch them grow as we do. I’ve already told you how amazing it is to see how big they get and how fast, but to be able to see progress of them along the way is fun for everyone.

Being able to look back on all of the puppies, in both litters, gives us memories that will last a life time. Seeing the progress they’ll make (and the other litter has made) provides us with a community and shows us that we found the best families possible for our furry babies.

I know that putting in the extra work… taking them outside, letting their families meet and spend time with them and even just taking the time to interact with them everyday…has been invaluable for their growth and development. They’re going to make great additions to all of their new families.

Today’s Lesson: hard work pays off. These puppies have been a lot of work over the past 7 weeks…specifically over the past 4 (since Miss Addie turned her responsibilities over to us). There’s been a lot of poop and a lot of playing, but it’s been worth it to know we’ve given them the best foundation possible to begin their new lives in their new homes…worth every minute.
