It was a busy and exciting week with the puppies, as it was finally time for them to meet their new families!
It took a lot of coordination getting 11 different families to meet their puppies, but we did it!
It’s exciting to see them meet their new parents and learn about how their lives will be. I put a lot of time into checking families out, to ensure my puppies are entering the best futures they can possibly have.
Now that they’ve met new people, they’re getting noisier when they see humans coming…
I can’t walk down the stairs without one of them spotting me…they run to the gate and start jumping and crying for attention. They LOVE people and want nothing more than to be cuddled.
I don’t think I saw this change last time, since we were restrictive on visitors due to the conditions of the pandemic.
Now, meeting a whole new group of people, with new smells and personalities has opened them up and made them even more social than they already were. They want nothing more than to be with people at all times.
They’re also learning to play longer and harder. They’re developing their voices and beginning to howl…
When they see any sort of activity in sight, smell a human or hear a footstep…they wake up all their friends to alert them that they might be getting some attention.
Between feeding them, cleaning up after them and their play time, you think they’d get enough of us…but they don’t.
The puppies have been so great this time around and know their routine. While they eat breakfast we clean up…then they get lots of cuddles and toys to play with.
During the day they run around and use their toys until lunch time comes. They eat, poop then play some more.
At dinner time, we pick up the toys so they don’t mess on them throughout the night and when it’s time for bed, the lights go down and their music turns on…they run into their beds and only wake up to use the bathroom.
They don’t seem to make any noise at night, but when the next morning comes around, you can sure hear that their tummies are hungry.
If there’s any alterations in their daily ritual, they’ll let you know!
It’s hard to believe that in less than two weeks, their families will come back to take them home.
They’ve been so much fun to watch grow and develop their personalities, and it’ll definitely be quieter in the house.
I know they have great futures ahead of them…and am excited to see their journeys in their new homes.
Today’s Lesson: they say “the secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine”. We’re working hard to keep the puppies on schedule and in a routine that fits ours. Because of this, they’ve become well mannered and let us sleep through the night. It’s amazing how little they are but how smart they can be already. When the lights turn off at night and the sounds of the ocean fill their room, they go right to sleep until they see us again in the morning. We’re doing the best we can to set them up for a successful future, in families who love them as much as we do.
